Farnborough Aerodrome, some 35 miles from central London, is renowned for its
long-standing aviation links. No other site in the United Kingdom, possibly the
world, can claim a closer, more continuous association with the history of man’s
conquest of air than the airfield at Farnborough. The 1998 show celebrates the 50th
anniversary of the exhibition being held at the historic Farnborough site. Since 1948
the exhibition has expanded from 70 aircraft and 187 exhibiting companies to a
world-renowned showcase of aerospace equipment and technology. Farnborough
international ’98 expects to host within the region of 200 aircraft and over 1000
exhibitors.
As in 1948, the show weekend will open to the public for a fantastic day out.
Dynamic flying and equipment displays will relive the historic moments of past
Farnborough shows, with tomorrow’s technology intermingled for an exciting look
into the future. Virtual reality flying, simulators and interactive exhibits promise a
memorable day out for both young and old.
The gates will open to the public at 9.30am and entry is free to children under 16
when accompanied by a ticket-bearing adult. Many additional attractions guarantee
the 1998 show to be bigger and more exciting than ever, for the finale to the
traditional September dates – Farnborough International 2000 will see the show
brought forward to the summer between 24 – 30 July. So come along and join the rest
of the world for a family day out that is second to none!
