Rachel Huxford – Public Relations Officer

Rachel Huxford (30) was born in Stroud, Gloucestershire. She was educated at Archway School, Stroud, before reading English Literature at Durham University as a member of University College. During this time, Rachel began to learn to fly as an Officer Cadet with Northumbrian Universities Air Squadron, based at Royal Air Force Leeming.

On graduating from Durham in 1997 with a BA (Hons) in English Literature, her love of flying led her to become a wingwalker with the Cadbury’s Crunchie Flying Circus, now known as the Utterly Butterlys. What started as a fun vacation job quickly turned into a career, and Rachel became Public Relations Manager for the team’s parent company, AeroSuperBatics Ltd. In 2001 she began working for the Royal Air Force as Head of Corporate Communications for the Air Cadet Organisation, based at Royal Air Force College Cranwell. Rachel joined The Red Arrows in 2002, and is the only civilian member of the Team.

Rachel’s interests include riding, gardening, watching rugby and hill walking.

Public Relations Assistant
Senior Aircraftman Ann Muldowney

SAC Ann Muldowney (22) joined the Royal Air Force in August 2002 as a Personnel Administrator.

Although she was born in Down Patrick, Northern Ireland, her father was in the RAF and so was brought up in many areas including Germany, Northern Ireland and England. The last school she attended was St Georges College of Technology in Sleaford and from here she went to Lincoln College to study for her A-Levels in English Literature and Law.

After leaving here at 18 she began training at RAF Halton, graduating from Basic Training in October 2002 and from Trade Training in February 2003. Ann was then posted to RAF Benson as a Personnel Documentation Clerk within the Station Headquarters.

During her time at RAF Benson she had the opportunity to complete several operational tours. These included the Balkans, in support of 28 (AC) Squadron and Basrah, where she was detached to the Headquarters Multi-National Division, South East Iraq. Ann joined The Red Arrows in January 2006 as the Public Relations Assistant.

In Ann’s spare time she enjoys running, skiing and travelling.
