Team Adjutant
Warrant Officer John May MBE BEM, was born in Dundee and educated at
Lawside Academy. He was a member of 1232 (City of Dundee) Air Training
Corps and a founder member of 2400 (Lawside) Air Training Corps. John
joined the Royal Air Force in 1966 and carried out his initial training
at RAF Swinderby.
John’s first posting was to Bahrain, and
many of his subsequent tours have also been overseas. During the 1980s,
he was Personal Assistant first to Deputy Commander Royal Air Force Germany
and then to Deputy Chief of Staff, HQ Allied Air Forces Central Europe.
John spent much of the 1990s in Germany; first as Chief Clerk
at Royal Air Force Bruggen, then as Chief Clerk at Royal Air Force Laarbruch.
During this time he was heavily involved in the move of the Harrier Force
back to the UK and the eventual closure of the station. Back in the UK
John spent three years on the team responsible for the computerisation
of all personnel administration systems in the Royal Air Force. John
is married to Pat. His obsessions are computer flight simulation and
golf
(11 handicap).
