Blue Eagles Team News #4As you have probably all noticed by now the Guest book is open for business. The team would like to extend a round of thanks to Tim Callaway (our Webmaster) for all the hard work involved in tracking down the bugs. Mind you, if he hadn’t messed it up in the first place……..! – Ed. Tim popped into Wallop on Wednesday last week for discussions on Web-site enhancements. You might think it needs no improvement, but as ever the Blue Eagles want the absolute best for their supporters. So look out in the coming few weeks to a number of changes, including some new pages. I won’t give away all of the plans now, but standby to be impressed. God, I love technology. More news from the team, the bad first; Terrane Promotions, the Lincoln based company who supply some of our merchandise and most importantly embroider our flying suits, will be receiving WO2 Kav Kavanagh’s suit back to be re-done. Not that we have any problems with the quality of their work, they’re the best. It’s just that, and now the good news. Kav managed to fool most of his bosses most of the time and has just been promoted to WO1. Yes another promotion in the team. That’s three in a month! Well done Kav. Individual training continues and despite some really foul weather this month everything is going well, Capt Ray Turner has been beating the Lynx into submission and will soon be let loose on his own to continue his work-up. It’s your turn for the sweaty palms now Richie!! The Gazelles will be starting their synchro-pair training next week, a big thank you to SSgt Martin McGrath for all his time in helping with the individual training. I hear that he was recently found, head in hands, in the corner of the crew-room muttering "More right pedal Bill, More right pedal". – Don’t Ask!! The team manager slipped away with Eagle 5 to a secret North of England location, on a recce of a future, ‘very high profile event’, everything was found to be in order, so look out for more information here in due course. This was followed by a site recce at Goodwood in preparation for the annual Festival of Speed to be held on 6-8 July. It’s not the usual type of venue, it’s based around the beautiful Goodwood Park and House, the home of the Earl of March. If you love speed, whether it’s cars or aircraft, it’s a must for your diary. Do come and see the team, we will be co-located with the Army Air Corps Historic Aircraft Flight and possibly an Apache. Sgt Julie Wiles is still generating media interest, we have a leading photo journalist from a well known daily newspaper making regular visits to the training sessions in order to put together a project. Dad Alan, has offered to supply a few compromising photos from Julie’s childhood. Why do parents always do that? Maybe it’s payback for the remark about the Zimmer frame Julie!! The invitations have all gone out for the Press Day on 26th April, all early indications show a promising turn-out. Members of the public will be welcome to use the public areas of the Museum of Army Flying to watch the display. Proposed timings of which is probably at about 1430hrs – or half past two, to the uninitiated amongst you. Just kidding!! The team will be available after the display, so come along and meet them. You’re very welcome. All best, CJ Dunscombe To return to the current news page click on Team News at the head of this page.
