Blue Eagles Team News for 2005

The Team Manager reports on the early displays for this very busy season.

Hello again from a now well travelled Blue Eagles!  Since Duxford we have been to Northern Ireland, Wales, Belgium, Holland and have just arrived back from a good show at RAF Cosford. The Team has been slightly unlucky with the weather; the strong wind seems to have followed us all over the continent.  In Wales it was so windy that we couldn’t even start the Gazelles because the it was 20kts above the 30kts limit to start, our coats from Cotswold
outdoor were well and truly tested that weekend….. On the Sunday the weather was better and we managed to get the practice and display in before returning to Middle Wallop.

The Belgium Heli Day and Hoek-van-Holland were very busy and well attended events, but yet again, the weather didn’t help and the winds were strong.  With all these strong winds and problems there is a silver lining and that is that the team have had to work really hard on the display in the hardest of circumstances.  The net result of all this practice and effort was that at Cosford the weather was kinder and a very polished and well received display was flown by the team.

The Groundcrew are going great guns on the caravan and you have been visiting us in your thousands. They have answered most of the questions you asked and have also pointed lots of people in the direction of the recruiters which is brilliant to see, it is nice knowing that the team can enthuse people. I must thank you for all your kind support and comments in the guest book; It really makes it all worth it when you read them.

Looking forward to the next few weeks, we see the Team departing for the Royal Netherlands Air Force show  next weekend and then after a short break to draw breath onto Portsmouth and RAF Waddington where we hope to be displaying with the Army Historic Aircraft Flight once again. It is amazing to think that we are nearly half way through the season already but I can assure you all that better is to come as the weather picks up and the real polish is put on the dynamic display for this year.  Keep the comments coming in and we all hope to see you
in the near future.

JON STEWART-DAVIS
Captain
Officer Commanding The Blue Eagles
