Thank you for your message (twice) but if you want to fly the Lynx you will have to join the Army. The Army is the largest helicopter operator in the UK, we have more helicopters than the RAF and the Navy put together! However, we are all trained the same, by the same people so which ever you join, you’ll be trained by the best. Good luck with Air Cadets its a great way to learm about the British Armed Forces.
All the best. Barry.

Saw you from a distance carrying your bags to the aircraft so guessed that it wasn’t going to happen. Hope your trip to Portrush went without a hitch and wish you “Break a leg” for the rest of the season.

PS I hope the organisation at Longleat was better on your side of the display line, on the punters side it was diabolical.

Comments:In 1975 i was taken into Killinbeck hospital due to drinking caustic soda. I was only 3 years of age. I am now 35 years of age and 100% fit. My injuries were that seriouse due to internal burning i was expected to die not long after. Anyway during my time in hospital I had a nurse or ordily that used to help me and his name was Martin. He gave me some pictures of the Blue Eagles that were signed by the pilots themselfs. From that point i have been fascinated with helicopters and not known exactly why, but now know as i found this website purely by accident when looking for a radio controlled helicopter club. Looking at the blue eagle pictures brought back a lot of memories i thought id lost, not bad memories but the good ones i had of the heli pics. I looked as far back as i could regarding the eagles and only managed to get to 1975.
I would be very, very gratefull if someone could contact me regarding the mail i have sent.
Thanks and best regards.

Very educational display. I had no idea you could undertake such manoeuvres with a helicopter. How long before technology allows you to turn one end-over-end in its own axis? No doubt you are working on it.
A word for the ground crew as well who enthusiastically answered all my questions and more.
Keep on entertaining us and fly safe.

To think I was there at the start of the direct recruitment into the AAC with 4 Div Avn Regt in Herford W. Germany from 1970-1974. I witnessed the first demo between the Gazelle & the Scout in Detmold in 1973, wot a day that was. I flew in a Scout from Herford to Detmold, on a duty call of course on the day the demo was happening. I saw the Blue Eagles at Middle Wallop & at RAF Lakenheath many moons ago, just fabulous. Looking forward to Duxford again on 8th August.
I know you guys don’t know me, but I was very proud to have served with the AAC in a supporting role when it was just officer pilots. Yours ever grateful. Ray Sharp

Comments: Really kind words everybody – thanks a lot. Waddington was a cracking weekend for the whole team – the air display was spectacular and attracted a special mention from the Flying Display Committee.
As for the ground display, Ross and the Team worked really hard last week to produce the stunning trailer and their efforts were rewarded by being swamped over the weekend by visitors – they really enjoyed the attention!
If you saw us in the air or on the ground then we hope you enjoyed it. We’re at Yeovilton this Saturday so come and see us!

Comments:Dear Sir,
There was a Blue Eagles Club in 2002. I still have my membership card & some of the memorabilia too. As a civvy, I got an invite for the Press Day just before the season started & spent a totally awesome day at Wallop watching the Eagles Displaying & the presentation of their ‘corporate’ flying helmets & coveralls. Major Dunscombe was was the OC that year & he made sure we had a memorable & fantastic day. It’s pity it never continued. I believe Pooleys provided the membership packs. If I’ve got the wrong end of the stick about the club then please forgive me. Perhaps Dave Woods was referring to a club for past & present members of the Blue Eagles.

Comments:David, Thanks for the feedback – we had a great weekend at Netheravon and Wattisham. As for the idea of a BE association it rings no bells here at the Eagles Nest – however that doesn’t mean it is a bad idea. Let me make some enquiries as to how far the idea got. Roll on Waddington this weekend – we can’t wait!

Thank you for a superb display at Netheravon yesterday.
As an ex ’92 vintage of the BE’s, I would be interested in a rumour I heard recently of a BE’s club/association. I think Colin Dunscombe suggested such some years ago.

Comments:Thanks Sandy,
As you seem to know – Silverstone next week on Saturday is indeed our first UK display – although we have already cut our teeth in France! The next day (Sunday) will see us displaying at Cosford.
We are fielding a few enquiries about Biggin Hill. We are not displaying at Biggin Hill this year as we were not confirmed as a booking. The 2006 dates list that you can see on the site are a little old but for technical reasons these have been hard to update.
All that should end next week when the new website goes live. Look forward to a brand new look to the site and some fresh pictures and faces. As always we will try to post pictures of the shows we go to as soon as possible, so if you can’t join us then make sure you visit this site!
Best wishes.

Great to hear from you – yes a long time since you tried to teach us Brits to play baseball on the airfield at Middle Wallop. I have now moved on from my post as SO2 Displays after a great season with the Eagles to work on the the Apache Simulator as a civilian instructor. Steve Green asked me to pass on his regards. Like to take the opportunity to pass on my thanks and admiration to all members of the Eagles for all their hard work and dedication. The guest book entries serve to reinforce the high regard the Team are held in. Also a big thank you to the Great British Public for supporting your Army Air Corps. Best wishes Marty Western

Comments:What a brilliant display by the Blue Eagles in Dartmouth this weekend. My 4 year old daughter always looks forward to the Lynx Blackcats duo, however she was a little disappointed that only one would appear. The arrival of the Blue Eagles display team on the weekend was far far better with some excellent routines. I would also like to thank the members of the team outside the Castle Hotel who took the time from what was obviously a very busy time to spend time with my daughter talking about the helicopters and posing for photos, something that she had to have. Again thanks to the team for making my daughters day,and a brillaint display, hope to see you next year at Dartmouth

Comments: Hi,
I just wanted to say I was at the Yorkshire Air show all weekend and had a great time. I was absolutely amazed at the Blue Eagles displays both days- it was far better than i expected and i cant believe it- those helicopters whent upside down- with those bloody blades on top! Absolutely mega!
I was only at Elvington because my brother’s rock band (Gypsy) were supposed to be playing the event and due to a mix up with catering were cancelled, so I was very upset and the Blue Eagles made being at the show worth while!
Thanks!

Comments: Nice one Tim well I will repost my commnents from Sunday 13th June 05 Sorry this entry is a long one but just had to say it.
The response from the RAF Cosford crowd near where we were sitting best describes how good the display was today “did you see that it was totally amazing” one little chap pointed out to his friends that you don’t just fly in circles like the group of nine.
A big thank you must go to Jim and Neil just meeting you both has ignited a spark in a small boy the poster and photo will have pride of place in the centre when it opens in the next few weeks.
Jim a special “thank you” comes from the other four if you would be so kind to pass it on to all involved it made Christopher’s birthday extra special the smile on his face was out of this world.
P.S How do I stop them from saying Jim did this and Jim did that and the man that was flying the Lynx (Neil) do that, to say you guys have made an impression on three 9 year olds is an understatement.
I hope the Corps never under estimates the value of the Blue Eagles as Ambassadors and a special group of people that can help in motivating the younger members of the public.
Maybe next year we will see the Gazelle, Lynx and Apache fly as a team and (Don’t tell anyone I said that, it’s only taken 25 years to change my views on this).
Hope you all have a great weekend in Holland

Just found your site. Saw your team at Saturday’s
Biggin Hill Air Show – what an amazing display! I didn’t know helicopters
could do those things! Was delighted to see you in the ‘Meet the Pilots’
tent afterwards, and get your autographs. Your winning team display
status was richly deserved and now makes me view helicopters in a completely
different light. Well done, lads!

We had a great day out at Elvington on the
22nd. Aug. It was great to be at an airshow with decent weather, the
rain and wind spoiled the Waddington show. The “Eagles” were OUTSTANDING
again! Thank you for making your first appearence at Elvington lets
hope it continues to be a regular display for you. My wife wants to
know how come she can get a ladies thong with the Red Arrow crest on
but the “Blue Eagles” merchandise lacks this item. Are there any other
ladies out there who would like to see this as a choice at the “Eagles”
stand? The lads on the stand said it wasn’t up to the team what they
sold, so to who ever deals with these items how about something for
the ladies? Thanks again for a great performance.
