Blue Eagles Team News for 2005

28 and 29 July at Lowestoft SeaFront airshow.

Thursday 28th July saw the start of the Blues busiest period of the year with five displays in four days. On Thursday and Friday 28th and 29th July the Blues displayed at The Sea Front Airshow at Lowestoft in Suffolk. Due to the requirement for fuel and lodging the team based themselves at RAF Marham for the two days and had to fly a short transit to and from Lowestoft each day. The weather on Thursday was generally poor with very low cloud and strong winds. this unfortuanately caused many display acts to cancel. However, the Blues were far more fortunate than most, and a large blue hole appeard in the sky just before their display slot time. Despite the lack of any visual references over the sea and the strong wind, Al led the team through their familiar routine with all of the skill and accuracy we have now come to expect.

The weather on Friday was far better and again Al and the team flew a flawless display, as always John’s commentaries were both informative and entertaining and the large crowds on both days gave the team a well desrved ovation at the end of the displays.

Following their display on Friday the team transited down to Sandown on the Isle of Wight for the weekend’s End of the War airshow.
