Blue Eagles Team News Archive

Archived 29 August 2001

Southend Air Show, Essex – Monday 29 May

The display itself was a corker, fast exciting and accurate, the Team worked their socks off in a blustery wind to perform perfectly on datum. Some of the highlights of the Blue Eagles 2000 display include:

The Lynx backflips between a pair of bunting Gazelles

One of the opening manouevres is the Lynx backflipping between the lead pair of Gazelles, one of which can be seen here due to a rubbish photographer.

Cuz loops the Lynx

Cuz loops the Lynx twice in the display. The 2000 sequence also includes two backflips and a roll!.

A seagull gets a shock

As the Lynx backflipped, a seagull decides to join the display!.

The Gazelles form a Box Four

The Gazelles form a Box Four, which Eagle Five then pulls up out of here to run in opposition to the Lynx…..

Prince of Wales Feathers

….the remaining three Gazelles then pull up for the Prince of Wales Feathers.

The Crossover Break

The Gazelles finish the display in the Crossover Break as the Lynx backflips over the top.

The 2000 Support Team

Andy, Phil and Sharon, the 2000 Blue Eagles Support Team. The hand belongs to the same rubbish photographer who has since been dumped in the sea off Southend.

Rapier Jernas display

Unknown to Cuz, his entire display was tracked by the 16th Regiment Rapier unit on the seafront. Here the Lynx is nicely centered in the crosshairs!.
