Shoreham
Air Display – 2nd and 3rd September 2000
Sunday, the weather
continued to improve! The team left Shoreham to fly just along the south
coast to Folkestone to take part in the Shepway Air Festival, where their
display, opposite the cliff-top crowd, went down very well indeed. A great
venue for an airshow, the Team are over the sea and can therefore work
closer to the crowd than is possible at other sites. Landing back at Shoreham,
the Team briefed and flew their second display at the Royal Air Force
Association show before returning to Middle Wallop. A busy weekend indeed!

Jim,
Martin, Richie and Tim, the Gazelle pilots, walkout to the aircraft
to begin the days displays. In the background is the original 1930’s
terminal building at Shoreham airport. |

The

the size of the crowd at this popular event. |

The
Gazelles run across the crowd front in pairs to cross, as the Lynx
runs back in from depth to begin its solo part of the display. |

The
Royal Navy also attended the Shepway show, anchoring one of their
ships off the seafront. |

The
Gazelles, with smoke on, running in under the Lynx for their final
break over one of the display support vessels. |

Display
over at Shepway, the Team returned to land at Shoreham before displaying
there later in the afternoon. |

One
of the other visitors to the Shoreham show was this immaculate Spitfire
in 41 Squadron markings. |
