Is it really two weeks since I sat at this computer and typed the last news update?

(Yes it is, mutter mutter mumble mumble. – Ed.)

As usual the frenetic pace of life here at Wallop is unrelenting, deadlines, deadlines, deadlines.

This year’s poster is finished and it’s outstanding, it echoes the entire hi-tech feel that the team are trying to promote for this year. It will form the basis of the entire range of publicity material. As soon as it is ready for delivery I’ll be sure to let you all know. I’ll also publish a copy here. Don’t try to order your copies direct, as I’m afraid we can’t send posters out in the mail, P&P; is just too expensive. You wouldn’t want to pay nearly a tenner for your poster now would you…. Would you??

ATpr Annabel Christie arrived hotfoot from her upgrading course and is now working tirelessly as the team’s media liaison rep. She will be manning the Blue Eagles Hotline during working hours…..I’m sorry, Oh didn’t I tell you….. Yes the latest snippet of news is that the team now has a 24/7 Team Hotline. During working hours on weekdays only our Girl Friday will be available to take your calls and answer any questions you may have about the Blue Eagles. Evenings and weekends then do as the machine says and …Leave a message after the tone.

Training has been a little intermittent, we’ve been a little unfortunate in the last week, mainly due to the weather, Capt Ray Turner has been out for a few training sessions in the mighty Lynx and is settling down nicely.

Meanwhile the Gazelle pilots have been honing their individual and formation skills, an immaculate ‘Diamond Five’, (apologies to The Red Arrows) was spotted coming back into Wallop on Wednesday, even Eagle 5 was ‘in’. Sorry Tim – you know what I mean.

Next week Eagle Lead and Eagle 2 are off to the ski slopes for a bit of R&R; while the rest of the team get on with the work – well someone has to do it!

Last years Eagle 2 SSgt McGrath will be coaching the Gazelle pilots on their individual skills in the absence of Eagle Lead, we’re all very grateful for his help.

Other noteworthy news –

The exhibition vehicle is in the process of being modified with this years logo and look, many thanks to Jeff and Matt for their hard work with the vinyl logos.

The range of merchandising for this years team has been finalised and deliveries should begin in two weeks. As soon as the images are available we’ll have the shop page set up and you can see what excellent bargains are available. There is a really high quality range of merchandise, all of the items will carry the logo of your favourite helicopter display team.

Due to concerns over internet security we will not be able to offer direct merchandising on the website, but the procedure will be made as simple as possible. Either down-load the order form and send it to us by snail mail or by Fax(01980-674105). Alternatively phone your order to us on the hotline number – 01980-678667.

Dates for your diary – the team will be supporting our merchandising distributors at the Pooleys day at Compton Abbas on Sunday 20th May on return from the CSMA Airshow at Brands Hatch.

The display date in Jersey was booked in error, the new date is Sunday 5th August, as the new date is now a weekend the whole team will participate, rather than just a singleton as originally planned.

And a couple of new dates – 4th August at the 651 Sqn AAC families day at Netheravon, and the 4 Regiment AAC, Gulf War reunion weekend on Saturday 7th July at Wattisham Airfield.
