Blue Eagles Team Displays – Yorkshire Air Show – 21st to 22nd August 2004

The Yorkshire Air Show is held at one of the few remaining wartime Bomber Command airfields still largely extant. The reason the airfield is still able to be used as such is that it is also home to the delightful Yorkshire Air Museum, a collection which boasts among its prize exhibits the only complete Handley Page Halifax in the world. The crowds were out in force on the Saturday for what proved to be an exciting and dramatic show. Participants like the Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16 and the RAF’s Tornado F3 provided the roar of heavy metal, the Utterly Butterly flying circus thrilled the crowd with their aerobatics with acrobatics and the Blue Eagles and Red Arrows provided the elegance and excitement of close formation team flying. All in all a well balanced show including something for everyone. Even the weather complemented the show, as the large thunderstorms prowling the area provided a dramatic backdrop, but with enough bright sunshine to keep the crowds happy!
