Blue Eagles Team Displays – Goodwood Festival of Speed – 6th, 7th and 8th July 2001

And so the weather problems continued! Saturday dawned as claggy as Friday, only more so. This did not dampen the ardent motor enthusiasts at all, Goodwood was quickly surrounded by traffic queues as the massive crowd built up rapidly through the morning. Luckily, as the sun began to have its effect, condidtions improved enabling the display to go ahead as planned at 13:00, and what a display it was. Because of the unusual layout of the site, on the edge of a steep incline, the Team could fly closer in to the crowd, and apparently, because of the the slope, lower, in perfect safety. The illusion created by the geography of the Goodwood site was total, and the huge crowd were treated to a breathtaking demonstration of precision aerobatics. All through the day a wide variety of fascinating historic and modern cars were taking to the track and thrilling the crowd with high speed runs around the circuit. On top of all this, there were a number of VIP visitors to the stand, not to mention a unique photo-opportunity! Some of the highlights are captured here……
