Blue Eagles Team Displays – The Leuchars Battle of Britain Air Show – 15th September 2001

Leaving RAF Leuchars at 11:40 in the moning, the Team had a number of house calls to pay on the way home, first at the local Parachute School where an ex-member of the corps, Jimmy White, is an instructor. The Team flew past in vic in salute, before continuing on to the Firth of Forth bridge for a photo opprtunity at the famous landmark. We then flew across Scotland to the west coast, before transiting back via a refuelling stop at Blackpool. Dan Parkes was working all through the trip, and captured these highlights in the setting light of the autumn sun.

Sunday 16th September – Part IV, The Voyage Home!

Two of the Gazelles had to refuel at Carlisle.	The Red Arrows on display at Morecombe Bay.

Breaking over the top of Kav’s Gazelle to land at Blackpool.	The tower is not the only large landmark at Blackpool today!

The sun picks out the highlights on Bill’s Gazelle.	Departure took us past the Reds support Hercules transport.

Transiting at medium level, Terry’s Gazelle is caught against the sun and clouds.	A sombre sky silhouettes Bill’s aircraft.

On the downsun side, close ups of the cockpits of first Kav’s Gazelle….	….then Julie’s aircraft as the camera Gazelle moves back through the formation.

A beautiful shot of Kav’s Gazelle as we descend toward Middle Wallop, the long flight nearly over.	And as we turn into sun, the light catches the Lynx through the rain washed canopy of Colin’s Gazelle.
