Blue Eagles Team News for 2006

The RAF Waddington Air Show – 1 & 2 July 2006

The RAF Waddington Air Show is one of the largest displays in Europe, attracting visitors from all over the world. It was a great pleasure for the Team to be invited to attend this event, not only for the prestige, but also as the Saturday marked the 90th Anniversary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme, an important event in the history of the First World War. The British Army lost 68,000 men on the first day of this battle, and the Team respectfully dedicated their display today to the fallen of the Somme. Their display began at 11:30, just as the commemorations at the Theipval Memorial in France were beginning. It was a beautiful day then, in 1916, just as it was today. We shall remember them.

The new stand and Saab immediately attracted attention.	The ground crew were busy from the off, Andrea and the crew dispensing the new Team poster.

Alex was showing future pilots around the Gazelle cockpit on its new trailer, here James and Matthew Davies enjoy their flight!	Danger, manager at work! The admin never ends for Clive, his PDA and mobile phone glow in the dark!

Ross was delighted to show people around the new stand, the whole Team is rightly proud of it.	The Eagle break at the beginning of the display brought the crowd to a standstill.

Atop the Eagle Roll, the Lynx catches the bright sun.	At the bottom of the Heart, Mark and Tony cross, closely!

The Team rejoined for a final flypast to land.	This is the last time an RAF Canberra will appear on the UK display circuit, farewell to a fine aircraft.
