2005 Stories
The 2005 Team Displays – Biggin Hill International Airshow – 03 & 04 September 2005
The
Biggin Hill International Airshow is one of the biggest and best air
displays in the UK, the theme for 2005 being the end of the Second
World War. This
year’s display included a scramble re-enactment by five Spitfires
and many other warbird displays, as well as both Teams from the Army
Air Corps.
The 2005 Team Displays – Sandown, Isle of Wight and Music in the Air, Middle Wallop – 30 &
31 July 2005
The
Sandown Air Show is one of the best kept secrets in the United Kingdom.
The show is now in
its second year and is not so much an airshow, more of a cricket match
in atmosphere. Once again, both Teams from the Army Air Corps
flew in the display.
The 2005 Team Displays – Royal International Air Tattoo – 16 & 17 July 2005.
The Royal International
Air Tattoo is not only one of the largest air displays in the world,
in terms of the numbers of aircraft attending, but also one of the
most prestigious. Once again, both Teams from the Army Air Corps flew
together as the largest formation in the display.

The International Air Show
at RAF Waddington is one of the largest air displays in the United
Kingdom. Military aircraft from all over the world visit the airfield
to take part in the show, and this year was no exception.

The 2004 Team Displays – Biggin Hill – 18 &
19 September 2004.
The Battle of Britain air show
at the former RAF airfield of Biggin Hill in Kent is one of the UK’s premiere
aviation events. Each year, several prestigious prizes are awarded for
the best solo and team displays, the best team display receiving the Shell
Trophy. This year, the engraved glass trophy went to the two Army Air
Corps teams, the AHAF, and the Blue Eagles.
The Museum of Army Flying Cocktail
Party – 3rd September 2004.
The Museum of Army Flying,
a tribute to Army Aviation and one of the most interesting air museums
in the UK, hosted a party of VIPs on the evening of 3 September. Outside
the Museum, arranged around a saluting dias, were the AHAF’s aircraft
who displayed as the sun set.
Music in the Air – 31st July 2004.
The Music in the Air display
at Middle Wallop is a unique experience and one of the most delightful
displays on the UK air show circuit. The AHAF displayed
as part of a very varied show all backed by a full orchestra and choir.
Sponsors Day at Middle Wallop
– 8th July 2004.
The Team, alongside
their Middle Wallop based colleagues the Blue Eagles, had organised
a day’s visit and flying display for the sponsors and supporters of
the Team. The visitors were treated to a close inspection of the Team’s
aircraft, and a full flying display.
The AHAF at RAF Waddington.
The Team took part in one
of the largest international air displays in the UK, the RAF Waddington
Air Show. The weather proved problematic on the Saturday, but Sunday
was greatly improved allowing a full display to be flown, as well as
a flypast at Shuttleworth on the way home. This report comes from Waddington
on the Sunday.
The AHAF at the Cosford
Air Show.
The Team took part in the
Cosford Airshow on Sunday 13 June in the bright sunshine, a rarity for
the UK season! On the way back, a flypast was flown at Netheravon and
the report includes pictures from inside the formation!
