Flight Lieutenant Russ Jones (Red 10, Commentator, and On-the-Road Manager)Red 10, Flight Lieutenant Russ Jones, 36, is in his third season with the Team as on-the-road Manager. He joined the RAF in 1983. On completion of flying training Russ flew the classic F4 Phantom at Leuchars in Fife before converting to the Tornado F3 with a subsequent tour on 25 Squadron at Leeming in Yorkshire. Russ, a Scot from East Kilbride, was delighted when he was naturalised back to Leuchars where he served a further four years on 111 and 43 Fighter Squadrons. His ten years on front line squadrons has seen Russ fly operationally in the Falkland Islands and Bosnia during Operation Deny Flight. On exercises he has flown in the USA, Canada, Malaysia and numerous European countries accumulating over 2600 flying hours. Russ’s interests include the world of finance and sport, particularly cricket, where he has represented Scotland in the Benson and Hedges Cup. He has also played for the Combined Services and the RAF. Married to Nikki, they have two children Holly aged 4 (Jan 96) and Connor aged two (Jan 98) |
