Blue Eagles Team Displays – The Leuchars Battle of Britain Air Show – 15th September 2001

The transit to Leuchars began from the Team’s home base at Middle Wallop at 09:00 in the morning, and routed via AAC Dishforth in Yourkshire in order to re-fuel before heading straight on to Leuchars on the north shore of the Firth of Forth. Once the aircraft were unloaded, the pilots gathered for a briefing and to study the map of the display line, something that happens at every display to ensure the Team maintain a safe distance from the crowd. The aircrew then boarded the Lynx to fly the display area in order to familiarise themselves with the turning points at each end of the display axis. All was then ready, and we took the opportunity to snap a few ground shots of the other participants in the display.

Friday 14th September

On approach to Dishforth, a major Army Air Corps base in the Yorkshire.	While on the ground a Dishforth, the whole Team observed the 3 minutes silence for the victims of the terrorist attacks in America.
