Blue Eagles Team Displays – The Leuchars Battle of Britain Air Show – 15th September 2001

The Saturday dawned with a low scattered cloud base being blown along by a strong blustery wind. Occasional bursts of sunshine kept the worst of the chill off, but it was immediately obvious that the summer is most deffinitely over! The ground stand was innundated all day again by the huge and enthusiastic Scottish crowd, and many new fans were photographed on the static display Gazelle. The ground crew were hard at work getting the aircraft ready to display, and caught the French national aerobatic team, the Patrouille de France, display from the far side of the airfield. Our photographer was there too, and captured some great images.

Saturday 15th September

The stand did incredibly well all day!	Julie with two young fans excited to be seated in the Gazelle.

Bill, sadly, turned out to be a spotter!	Mike, looking good in his cool shades, watches the display.

The Patrouille de France are rightly famous for their tight formations.	Here the solo pair pulls through the centre of the formation.

The solo pair keep a tight formation….	….even in mirror, showing both sides of their colourful scheme….

….and often appearing as a single aircraft!	The Patrouille main formation was also immaculate.

The aircraft of the main formation also roll while a few feet apart.	Their pairs cross is a heart stopper.

Smooth precise flying is the order of the day.	Kennet Aviation’s beautiful Hunter flew a fast and furious display.
