Blue Eagles Team Displays – The Leuchars Battle of Britain Air Show – 15th September 2001

Highlights of the Blue Eagles display include some very unusual shots taken by Dan Parkes, because for the first time this season the photographer was positioned behind the display line! As this is the last major air show of the season for the Team, we were able to capture some very moody images against the threatening clouds. Despite another strong wind along the display line, the Team performed flawlessly, and although the clouds did threaten, only the occasional very short shower actually occured, giving the crowd a chance to see the Blue Eagles at their very best. Many thanks to the organisation at RAF Leuchars for making our stay such an effortless and enjoyable one.

Saturday 15th September

The Lynx begins the display by backing through the Gazelle diamond.	Kav and Terry pull up at the end of their run for simultaneous pedal turns….

….before running back in line abreast formation to perform the double bunt.	The Lynx runs back to the centre, and pulls up to hold for Julie and Bill to perform the heart.

A close up series as Bill’s Gazelle pulls up….	….then turns hard at the top, rolling…..

….before rounding out the heart by pulling back round to cross with Julie’s aircraft coming the other way.	Richie and Ray run in fast on the B axis to perform a rapid wingover….

….and as they pull out, the sun hits the Lynx.	The Gazelles then perform the fourway cross, here the centre pair make a very close pass indeed!

The Gazelles run in for the finale in bright sun over the Firth.	An unusual pair of views of the crossover break….
