Blue Eagles Team News for 2006

The Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival and Weston Super Helidays – amongst others – 26 to 29 July 2006

Or, the long weekend, part three!

The Team were so busy for the five days at the end of the last week in July! They had had only a two day break after Farnborough on Saturday and Sunday, before they flew to Weston for their annual Air Display on the Wednesday. From there, they flew to RAF Marham in Norfolk to take part in their families day, which was also to mark the retirement of the Canberra from RAF service this year. While based at Marham, the Team also flew displays on the Thursday and Friday at the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival, before leaving on the Friday to display again at the Weston Super Helidays. If this were not enough, the Team also flew at Lyme Regis and a display at Cowes all in the same weekend! Further yet, there was their home base airshow to attend on the Saturday, the famous Music in the Air concert and Air Display at Middle Wallop. All in all, an exhausting haul for the Team, made more difficult by the weather being unpredictable and very varied. Lowestoft was bright, but hazy with a stiff on-shore breeze. As the Team returned westward, conditions deteriorated, with heavy showers and other hazards. This meant their performances at the other venues were difficult indeed! All in all, an amazing effort, and with the two week mid-season break now ahead of them, a well deserved break!

One of the very special guests at Lowestoft is the new BK115 from the East Anglian Air Ambulance, a vital local service.
