Sunderland Air Display – Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 July

Sunday, part two! Well, the weather really cheered up, and no mistake. Cuz and the Team took full advantage of the perfect conditions to turn out the best display of the year bar none. The routine was really tight, and the four ship / Lynx cross-over was so close in appearance it even worried some of us on the ground! Everybody who visited the stand commented on how exciting the display had been. This is how it appeared from inside and out.

As the Team lifted off, the redoubtable Paul Binns was taxying in in the Jaguar. Paul flew at Sanicole and at Sunderland on Sunday, a long days flying in a single seat jet.

As the Team crossed crowd centre, it became obvious that it was standing room only on the seafront for miles.

The Team formed up in vic with the Lynx facing backward to begin the display. This is the view over Rob’s shoulder of the Gazelles on the left.

The Gazelles on the right with the cranes of Sunderland dockyards in the background.

The next three shots are from the Lynx’s incredible display, firstly here is the aircraft pulling up past the vertical in a loop….

….then hurtling down toward the seafront in the recovery from the backflip….

….and finally for this sequence, rolling hard right.

The new Stadium of Light on the way out of the display heading back to the airport.

As the sun set, Martin and Jim’s Gazelles were captured in the cruise on the way back to Middle Wallop.

Hard at work with Martin photographing the Team, Keith gets on with the job in the sunset.
